Resumen

La jalea real es un alimento elaborado por las abejas obreras que posee compuestos biológicos con capacidad antioxidante; sin embargo, se desconoce si la alimentación de las obreras puede afectar esta actividad. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de la fuente proteica en dietas de las abejas sobre la actividad antioxidante de la jalea. La jalea real se produjo utilizando tres tipos de alimentación: Tratamiento 1, dieta elaborada con Mucuna pruriens y miel; Tratamiento 2, dieta elaborada con polen y miel; Tratamiento 3, grupo control con alimentación libre. La actividad antioxidante de la jalea se midió a través del porcentaje de captación de radicales libres con las pruebas DPPH y ABTS. Además, la actividad antioxidante se evaluó en un modelo in vivo utilizando ratas, a través de la cuantificación de superóxido dismutasa (SOD) y concentración de malondialdehido (MDA). Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas en las pruebas DPPH, ABTS y MDA (P≤0.05), siendo las jaleas producidas con las dietas (tratamiento 1 y 2) las que presentaron una mejor respuesta, lo que es un indicador de que el tipo de fuente proteica utilizada en la alimentación de las abejas incrementó la actividad antioxidante de la jalea real.
