Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine the importance of the implementation of good practices as a management strategy in the cultivation of cabbage in the rural communities of the municipality of Jinotega. The study was prospective, cross-sectional, non-experimental, 10 farms were evaluated. To collect the information, a survey was applied. The areas established with cabbage were in the range of 0.5 ha to 3 ha, highlighting the use of chemical fertilizers with three applications for each production cycle. Monitoring and trapping are carried out to manage pests and diseases. Plutella xilostella, Agrotos sp, Fusarium sp and Alternaria sp, are the most prevalent, sprinkler irrigation from surface sources is used. There is a direct relationship between the cultivated area, yield, and profit. To safeguard the lives of workers, they use personal protective equipment (PPE). To guarantee a safe and quality product, the means of transport are sanitized, and laboratory analyzes are carried out. The study depended on truthful information declared by each producer. It concludes with the vision of producers developing different strategies that determine good agricultural practices.
